Do đó nhóm chúng em quyết định chọn đề tài hệ thống đặt chỗ má y bay.
Từ khóa: Airline Reservation System, REST Architecture Style, Software Development Life
Cycle (SDLC)
Abstract: Considering that Hanoi University is a foreign language university comprising a lot of
foreign students studying, as well as a lot of foreign students and working teachers studying abroad.
But through surveys, people usually only book tickets through agents and social networking sites. This
is extremely inconvenient and difficult. Furthermore, this topic helps us to better understand how a
website is built and operated. Especially the flight booking system with database and management
complexity. For that reason, our team decided to choose the topic of Airline Reservation System
1. Mở đầu
In today's digital age, people depend on the internet and internet services. Hence
digitizing the applications is a must for industries, especially the service industry. Therefore,
this project, based on secondary research, create a website for booking airline ticket. HANU
airline website is an efficient booking website that provides bookingandpayments servicefor airline.
The site's interface is simple and formal, where the homepage of HANU airline will show
flights. The site effectively provides data about the flights. Apart from providing the airline’s
status, the HANU airline website displays UI for payment and booking.
2. Main content
Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is the development approach for our project
which is a process used by the software industry to design, develop and test high quality
software. The SDLC aims to produce a high-quality software that meets or exceeds customer
expectations, reaches completion within times and cost estimates [1]. SDLC divides
development processes into the following five phases: analysis, design, implementation,
215
testing, and maintenance.
2.1. Analysis and Requirement
2.1.1. Methods
The data used in this report is acquired from a survey carried out within Hanoi
University. At the beginning, a questionnaire consisting of 8 questions was designed to
capture requirements of users with our web (HanuAirline). In the next step, about 100
students of different ages and academic years were randomly selected, and each of them
respectively asked the 8 questions. Therefore, we were confident that the data obtained
achieved a fairly high level of genuineness.
2.1.2. Results
This section outlines the results of the survey conducted to discover HANU students’
opinions and teacher’s options of the usage of airline website to buy ticket. With a view to
determining the kinds of functions of airline website which are popular among the students
and teacher of Hanoi University, a great deal of the typical features were listed in the
questionnaire. In order to simplify the data interpretation, the different requirements have
been combined and labeled under the headings “user interface”, “security” and “management
and interaction tool”.

As can be seen from Figure 1, the number of people desiring good management and
interaction tools (such as chat box, status post) occupies the first place, reaching 96% of the

total. Meanwhile, the figure for the students requiring user interface ranks the second, with
84%, is significantly more than that of security (only at 46%).
Especially, the required user interface is clear, convenient and easy to use and includes
different tabs with title according to its function. With regard to security, every user has a
distinct account and individual page, which helps users to avoid being hacked individual
information and account.

Figure 2: The important level
Turning to the airline reservation system’ effects, more than a half (54%) of those who
responded were of the opinion that the system is essential for them. Whereas, 39% of the
people replied that this system is needless (almost them said that they can buy tickets from the
agent), and, only 10% have no idea about this (they have never use flight service include
booking ticket).
Therefore, we believe that creating a airline is really useful, which may meet the
essential needs of people.
2.2. Design
2.2.1. Methods
Based on these above requirements, design provides a comprehensive design overview
of the system, using a number of different design views to depict different aspects of the
system, such as Entity Relationship Diagram and Data Flow Diagram. It is intended to
capture and convey the significant design decisions which have been made on the system.
217
2.2.2. Results
The below entity relationship diagram (ERD) shows the relationships of entity sets
stored in our database and sketches out the design of database [4].Creating the necessary
entities (such as profile, flight, ticket, aircraft, aircraft seat, airway, airport, gate,…) helps us
to develop useful communication and interaction functions for users
Our project has two main process, one for user to booking ticket and one for the
administrator to manage flight, and the diagrams below will show you the flow for one of
these two processes [5]. Booking ticket and manage flight are two vital processes which assist
us in creating simple and user-friendly airline web.

2.3. Implementation
2.3.1. Methods
To develop our airline reservation web, we use Spring framework, Tomcat version 9.0
web server, MySQL database server and Java programming language. Besides, we also attach
special importance to using Restful architecture that defines the set of rules to be used for
creating web services. Web services which follow the REST architectural style are known as
RESTful web services. It allows requesting systems to access and manipulate web resources
by using a uniform and predefined set of rules. Interaction in REST based systems happen
through Internet’s Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) [2]. In our project, we use Spring
RESTful to create Rest APIs.
2.3.2. Results
To concretize REST architecture style, we exemplify the following profile rest. The
profile model helps to declare essential attributes for profile of user. The profile
REPOSITORY(DAO) roles play as data layer for profile of user in database. Profile
REPOSITORY(DAO) conforms to CRUD (create, read, update and delete). Next, we provide
profile service handling business logic (post, get, update and delete data from data layer).
Moreover, profile service also helps get expected data range or data by year. The profile
resource implements sufficiently get, post, update and delete method. Profile resource returns
both JSON data and XML data, conforms to REST Architecture Style.
Figure 5: Json file sample
Finally, we use postman to get JSON data from our web.
219
In terms of airline web for users, we represent user interface of two main pages
including booking ticket and payment.
2.4. Testing
2.4.1. Methods
To test software, we use Junit which is a Regression Testing Framework used by
developers to implement unit testing in Java, and accelerate programming speed and increase
the quality of code [3]. JUnit Framework can be easily integrated with Eclipse. In the other
hand, manual testing is indispensable part which to identify the bugs, issues, defects in the
software application and user experience.

method to check selecting comment from database, which assists in increasing the quality of
code.

2.5. Discussion
This study has proposed the simple and user-friendly booking ticket airline system that
allows users to easily interact and booking airline ticket through the web. At the same time,
the flight management system saves effort in management. Moreover, our project applies
REST Architecture Style to build API easily. However, our project is still limited, web
interface looks simple, that may not attract the users. The potential of application of airline
reservation system is not only convenient for ticket purchase and payment, but also in
marketing brand and provide service online. Besides, we will develop more about
maintenance phase by updating the code according to the changes taking place in user end
environment or technology. This topic is of interest for further research and implementation.
3. Conclusion
In short, while studying users’ usage of airline website and building the web, we
concluded that a booking website is convenient in booking tickets to save time and effort.
However, the building this system is not simple because the system has a large and complex
database, with strict constraints. This paper has discussed about the development approach -
Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) which helps us to design, develop and test high-
quality software, that meets or exceeds customer expectations. We hope that will be more of
these websites and they are increasingly improved, easier to use by users, more features and
more convenient.
